Abstract

Sleep disorders have emerged as significant contributors to the development of cardiometabolic and oncologic diseases in recent years. This study investigates the association between sleep disturbances and chronic health conditions, focusing on how alterations in sleep architecture, duration, and quality influence the pathophysiology of cardiovascular, metabolic, and cancerous conditions. Using a mixed-methods approach, including both qualitative evaluations and quantitative data from patient populations, the research reveals that sleep disorders such as insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and circadian rhythm disruptions are strongly correlated with increased incidences of hypertension, myocardial infarction, type 2 diabetes, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer. Mechanistically, these associations are driven by systemic inflammation, oxidative stress, neurohormonal changes, and immune suppression. The study also examines behavioral, environmental, and genetic contributors that exacerbate sleep-related risks. Results from clinical data, predictive models, and patient-reported outcomes suggest that early identification and management of sleep disorders can play a vital role in reducing the burden of these chronic diseases. The findings advocate for integrated healthcare models that incorporate sleep assessments into routine cardiometabolic and oncologic screenings. Furthermore, it underscores the necessity of interdisciplinary collaboration between sleep medicine, oncology, endocrinology, and cardiology to enhance patient care and preventive strategies. Ultimately, this research emphasizes that sleep health is not a peripheral concern but a central pillar in the prevention and management of chronic illnesses in modern clinical practice.
